National Wildlife Refuge Week
October 12 - 18, 2008
This year, the National Wildlife Refuge System celebrates 105 years of conservation. In the words of Rachel Carson,
former Chief Scientist of the system, refuge lands have been dedicated by the American people to preserving as much
of our native wildlife as possible. Amateur Radio operators will mark NWR Week on air October 8-19.

Last year, Mike Thomas NA5U operated W5NWR of the National Wildlife Refuge ARC from the
Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge in Sherman, Texas. See the W5NWR Hagerman Report. QSL via W5NWR.
In 2006, W5NWR operated from the Wichita Mountain National Wildlife Refuge the weekend of October 14-15th, 2006. This operation coincided
with National Wildlife Refuge Week. An attractive bi-fold QSL highlighting facts and pictures about the Wichita Mountain
National Wildlife Refuge is available to stations who contacted W5NWR at the Wichita Mountain NWR.
In 2005, W5NWR operated from the Tishomingo National Wildlife Refuge.
