National Wildlife Refuge Week
October 11 - 17, 2009
This year, the National Wildlife Refuge System celebrates 106 years of conservation. In the words of Rachel Carson,
former Chief Scientist of the system, refuge lands have been dedicated by the American people to preserving as much
of our native wildlife as possible. Amateur Radio operators will mark NWR Week on air October 10-18.

In 2008, W5NWR - W5 National Wildlife Refuge ARC operated from the
Balcones Canyon National Wildlife Refuge near Marble Falls, Texas.

K4NWR - K4 National Wildlife Refuge ARC operated from the Occoquan Bay NWR near Woodbridge, Virginia.
In 2007, W5NWR activated the Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge in Sherman, Texas. See the W5NWR Hagerman Report.
In 2006, W5NWR operated from the Wichita Mountain National Wildlife Refuge, Indiahoma, Oklahoma.
